Tim Hunt Remembered

Last year one of our fellow Hells Canyon Rally Riders was killed in a senseless accident on Hwy 30 between Baker City and Haines. The rally would like to pay tribute to Tim Hunt and his family during the rally this year. The Frontier Tavern and The Haines Steakhouse both are offering Tim Hunt specials during the rally and some of the proceeds will benefit Tammy Hunt, Tim’s wife.

Frontier: Jalepeno pepperjack burger for $9.00. – $2.00 per burger sold will be donated.

Haines Steak House: Lois Johnson says they are going to run a prime rib “special” with the salad bar, beans, bread, all the goodies for $25.00 and they will be donating $5.00 per plate.

Both of these Haines business have been great biker hangouts for the rally since the beginning. Many of you have already been to Haines and we encourage you to return this year, for those that have not, please give it a try. Great food and fun awaits and your purchase will make a difference, free will donations will also be accepted. A news release of the accident follows:

“Timothy Hunt was killed Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2008 when a car collided with his motorcycle on U.S. 30 about five miles northwest of Baker City, Oregon State Police said. A Subaru Impreza traveling westbound veered across the road into the eastbound lanes, where a group of three motorcycles were traveling. One of the motorcycles collided with the right side of the car. The motorcycle rider, Timothy Hunt, 47, of Baker City, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.”

  9. The 2009 Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally is fast approaching. Steve and I want everyone to keep Tim Hunt in mind as they ride this great area and especially Hells Canyon. Tim was a good rider, enjoying a ride with friends, and was sadly taken out by a careless motorist. Please be aware of the vehicles around you, ride safe, wear the proper gear, and have a great time…. just as Tim Hunt would have wanted!

  10. Mick Hiatt says:

Thanks for this tribute to Tim. My wife and I have lived next door to the Hunts for ten years now. They have been the best neighbors one could ever hope for. That day Tim and I talked about what a great November day for one more ride before winter sets in. Ride the Heavens, Tim. Ride the Heavens.

Unfortunately, it has not ended for me, but that’s another story.
This years rally will not be the same w/o Tim, but I’ll be there none the less.
Peace to Tami, Deanna, & Tyler, & peace to Don Endicott!
Tim will be there in spirit, even if it is ” just a Honda”!!! lol
Rest easy friend and I’ll see ya there!!!

    Peace,

I sure miss Tim Hunt! I worked with him at Marvin Woods for many years,a great guy to work with, and just a great guy!We used to talk about dirt bikes that we rode and what fun they were. Then he came by my house with his new Honda 750 Shadow, when he first got it.He was a lot of fun to go camping with at the Snake River at his place on the river, with Tammy and Deanna.I took camcorder footage of their place, with Tim as my guide.I also got footage of how to clean fish by Tim Hunt.If you want a copy Tammy let me know.May God be with you Tammy and Deanna always and heal the pain of your great loss.Well Tim, I`ll miss riding with you this year at the Hell`s Canyon Motorcycle Rally, but you can watch us up there in heaven and you can bet,we`ll be thinking of you. Your friend, Al Sculthorpe

  14. My deepest condolences go out to Tim’s family and friends. It is always tragedy to hear about the loss of a fellow rider. I pray that you find peace and strength during your time of loss. I know God will carry you when you feel weak and guide you when you feel lost.
