On the road closure thing. No worries. The Devil’s Tail, all the way from Baker to Hells Canyon Dam is OPEN. The Valley Course to Owyhee Dam is OPEN. The Gold Rush Course is OPEN to Sumpter, Granite and Ukiah. There has been some gravel washed onto the roads so be looking for that. If you have any questions about your route stop at the HCMR RideCenter and find out the latest! The only road closed that is on a HCMR recommended course is Road Rash Pass (FS 39) from Pine Creek to Joseph. This has been closed in the past due to snow, but this year it’s a little different!

I’ve ridden quite a few of the routes over the past few weeks. Watch for mud having been tracked onto road surfaces from unpaved side roads. In any canyon situation watch for actual rocks washed out and fallen on road. As always, gravel can get onto the roads, tire tracks are clear of it even where I’ve found some. Game will be moving around during morning, mid-afternoon, and sundown.
