Dropping you a note to let you know how much fun we had in 2011 our first year. We are so excited for 2012…. even though our friend had a wipe out at the stop sign just off the freeway, bummer. He is back and ready to roll for 2012. Can’t wait to get back and do it all over again. Thank you for a awesome event.

Congratulations to Competition Motors owned by Tom Young on being selected as the exclusive tires, batteries, and EBC brake pad vendor for this years Hells Canyon Rally.

Tom brings 27 years experience doing rallies and races. His equipment is top flight and his crew top notch.

Competition Motors Trackside Service located in Portland, OR. began in 1979 sharing space with the legendary Rose City BMW. Branching out alone in May of 1980 they have remained in E. Portland ever since. Currently operating at 5250 SE Circle Av. near 174th and Powell.

Tom’s wealth of experience and skills are a welcome addition to the Hells Canyon Rally. Competition Motors will be mounting and balancing tires for all brands. Installing Odyssey (AGM) batteries and installing EBC brake pads. Count on oil & filter changes as well. All of this at the RideCenter.

From the RideCenter to Hells Canyon Dam – and back. This ride has a stretch of road in the middle called the Devil’s Tail, 22 miles of twisty goodness. Stop at Annie’s or the Shorthorn in Richland for breakfast, gas up at Scotty’s, Oxbow, the Devil’s Tail then the dam.

A great ride for everyone.

Status of Road Rash Pass

Lots of questions about the status of Road Rash Pass, aka FS 39. This is the road from Pine Creek up to Joseph and is part of the Mountain Course during the rally. Heavy rains just before the rally in 2010 washed out several sections of the road and a couple of bridges.

Currently the bridges have been replaced and the road is repaired, however the repaired sections are still in gravel. Paving is to be done as soon as weather allows. We are hopeful that this will be before the rally.

Camping at DeadOx Ranch

When we first heard about “The Rally”, it was the first year it had been actually advertised. We joined the GOOGLE group, and saw that there were people looking for alternative places to camp. My wife and I own a small (160-Acre) ranch outside town, and figured “Why not”?

We posted an invitation and got a hit in about an hour. We had 8 riders and 10 bikes that first year. The group was from the Puget Sound area, and, fortunately wasn’t affected by rain. Since we advertised “family-style”, they were concerned about Rules. We told ‘em we have 3 Rules. “Don’t pee in the flowerbeds”. “Shower before you hot-tub”, and “Don’t fall in the fire”. It has been several years now, and we’ve hosted every year. It just gets better. And, so far, no one has fallen in the fire. We’ve had bikes, trikes, side hack rigs, cars, trucks, tents, campers, trailers, and motorhomes. We’ve seen sun, wind, rain, but no snow. It’s ALL been good! The bikes are awesome, but the people have been what keep us going with this. We love seeing the yard full of bikes!

We’ve been working on the place every year since, to make it better, and more convenient, both for us, and our guests. We’ve had more campers each year, as well as several “repeats”. There were about 25 last year. Bring it on! We’re lovin’it!
